10/25-10/29

Dear Blue Oaks Bears,

Is it the end of October?! Where has the time gone?

We have a fun-filled week ahead! Please take a moment to read all the fun events happening! Thank you for all those that walked to school on Wednesday and remember to mark your calendars on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. As a reminder, Nov, 1st is a teacher work day and we will miss all our little bears but we will see them on Tuesday.

Did you know that we have a new position at Blue Oaks called Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) and we are so lucky to have Mindy Corr fill that role here at our school. As you know she has taught 4th and 5th grade here for the last 8 years, but has taken on this new role for the next three years.  In this role, she will be supporting students across all grade levels and helping teachers to implement new programs for not only academics, but behavior and social emotional learning as well.  Additionally, she is running after school math intervention on Tuesdays and Thursdays - which is currently running for selected 2nd and 4th graders.  We are also lucky to have Ms. Jennifer Chance as Mrs. Corr's instructional aide.  She helps Mrs. Corr with intervention and small groups.  We are very lucky to have both of them support our bears!

Vaccine Verification REQUIRED for Volunteers:

  • If you are vaccinated, please bring in your vaccine card and show it to our secretaries.  They DO NOT need a copy or make a copy.  They simply need to see it.  This only needs to be done one time.  We will mark you cleared in our system and you are not required to show this again.

  • If you are NOT vaccinated and you would like to continue to volunteer as a Category I or Category II volunteer, you MUST show proof of a negative COVID test within 6 days of being on campus.  Our school secretaries will ask for proof of this requirement upon you signing in.

WALK TO SCHOOL WEDNESDAY!

Our first Walk to School Wednesday was a success! Mark your calendars for the third Wednesday of every month for the rest of the year! If you live too far to walk, we encourage you to park in the surrounding neighborhood and walk in from there. Two student council representatives will be manning each gate to pass out stickers to those students who participated in Walk to School Wednesday. We look forward to seeing our Bears put on their walking shoes and help to create a cleaner environment. Happy Walking!

Sierra Grimes is always willing to jump in and help with student behavior. She also created 2 months of SEL lessons for our students in the ASD classes. We couldn’t keep our classrooms running without you!

Blue Oaks 5th Grade Bucket Band!

Blue Oaks Bucket Band practice has started. The performance will be in December. I can't wait to see our 5th graders in action and all their hard work pay off. Also Mrs. Estep has set up a Donor's Choose for some items for her music class. If you would like to donate, here is the link: Seat Cushions for Music Class

What's New in RCSD?

RCSD is seeing the number of COVID-19 cases continuing to decrease, and we remind all families that as we move into the winter months, please continue to be vigilant. If your child is feeling ill, please keep them home! For more information on current COVID-19 numbers at RCSD please see our Dashboard. It is updated daily Monday through Friday.

Lost and Found

Our lost and found is located in the Bear's Lair on the stage.  It is very helpful if your child has their name on their clothing so we can return it to them. At the end of the trimesters, we will be donating the clothes that don't get picked up. Please come take a look!
